چکیده

Abstract. We explore various techniques to incorporate grid-like layout conventions into a force-directed, constraint-based graph layout framework. In doing so we are able to provide high-quality layout—with predominantly axis-aligned edges—that is more flexible than previous gridlike layout methods and which can capture layout conventions in notations such as SBGN (Systems Biology Graphical Notation). Furthermore, the layout is easily able to respect user-defined constraints and adapt to interaction in online systems and diagram editors such as Dunnart.

Using Markov Chain to Analyze Production Lines Systems with Layout Constraints

There are some problems with estimating the time required for the manufacturing process of products, especially when there is a variable serving time, like control stage. These problems will cause overestimation of process time. Layout constraints, reworking constraints and inflexible product schedule in multi product lines need a precise planning to reduce volume in particular situation of lin...

بهینه سازی برنامه ریزی هفتگی دروس دانشگاهی با روشهای جستجوی محلی

University course timetabling problem is a complicated problem and finding a computer-aided solution for it was a subject to work for many years. To solve this problem, we must assign courses to timeslots with respect to hard and soft constraints. Hard constraints are those which must be necessarily met (some of them could be neglected with high costs). Our aim is to meet as many soft constrain...

Simultaneous Satisfaction of Hard and Soft Timetable Constraints for a University Department Using Evolutionary Timetabling

An evolutionary approach is applied to the problem of designing timetables in a university setting. An indirect encoding is employed, where the structures under evolution are lists of instructions for creating timetables. Timetables are evaluated with a tness measure that captures both hard constraints (for example, no resource clashes) and soft constraints (where timetables that cause less \pa...

Generating a Visual System with Soft Layout Constraints

We developed a visual system generator called “Rainbow” which can handle layout constraints. The system can interactively layout figures while parsing them and make the parsed figures more understandable. Rainbow can deal with “soft layout constraints.” Soft layout constraints automatically layout entire figures by using graph drawing algorithms. Soft layout constraints are more flexible than c...

Houria Iii: a Solver for Hierarchical Systems of Functional Constraints. Planning the Solution Graph for a Weighted Sum Criterion

Constraints allow programmers and users to state declaratively a relation that should be maintained, rather than requiring them to write procedures to maintain the relation themselves. They are thus useful in many applications such as user interface and simulation packages. In many situations, it is desirable to be able to state both hard and soft constraints. The hard constraints must hold, an...
